Angel Aligner

Angel Aligner clear aligners: first, do they suit your teeth?

Angel Aligner is also a clear aligner system that moves teeth as you switch to new aligners in sequence. Rather than picking a brand first, the doctor diagnoses your teeth and then chooses the right appliance.

  • Treated personally by Dr. Juhee Baek, orthodontic specialist (22 years)
  • Side-by-side consultation with Invisalign
  • 1+ hour consultation with a dentist

Why patients come to us

So many aligner brands, not sure which to choose?

Many people hear the name Angel Aligner and come wondering how it differs from Invisalign. Both work on the same principle of switching clear aligners, and the result depends more on your teeth, the plan and how you wear them than on the brand name.

  • I'm wondering whether Angel Aligner or Invisalign is better
  • I want orthodontic treatment that doesn't show
  • Gaps or slightly crowded front teeth bother me
  • I want to eat and brush as usual
  • Another clinic recommended Angel Aligner, and I'd like a second opinion
  • I want to know first whether clear aligners can handle my case
The appliance

What Angel Aligner looks like

It works the same way as Invisalign: aligners are made to fit your teeth from iTero scan data.

Why an orthodontic specialist

Whatever the brand, a person plans how the teeth move

Clear aligners are simply made according to the plan. How far and in what order each tooth moves, and whether that appliance suits this patient, is the orthodontist's judgment.

  • 01

    Specialist training

After dental school, she completed an orthodontic residency and became a specialist.

  • 02

About 5% of dentists in Korea

Orthodontic specialists make up about 5% of dentists in Korea.

  • 03

    22 years of orthodontics only

Dr. Juhee Baek has practiced orthodontics for 22 years.

  • 04

    10,000+ cases

She has personally treated more than 10,000 orthodontic cases over 22 years.

Whether you need Angel Aligner or Invisalign is decided by Dr. Juhee Baek after diagnosis and consultation. We don't fix on one appliance and make it fit; after reviewing your full exam results, we explain why that appliance suits you. If clear aligners aren't right for you, we'll tell you so.

What is Angel Aligner

What kind of clear aligner is Angel Aligner?

Angel Aligner is a clear aligner brand made by Angelalign Technology, headquartered in Shanghai, China. The company was founded in 2003.

  • 01

    Aligners changed in sequence

You switch at set intervals to clear aligners made with the teeth in a slightly different position at each stage. The teeth gradually follow the aligner's shape.

  • 02

    Digital movement plan

Using iTero scan data, how the teeth will move stage by stage is planned in 3D, and the doctor reviews and corrects it before the aligners are finalized for production.

  • 03

    Attachments

Small bumps of tooth-colored resin are bonded to the teeth that need them, helping the aligner grip the teeth and push them in the intended direction.

  • iTero scan instead of impressions

Your mouth is scanned with an iTero digital intraoral scanner to create 3D data of the teeth and gums. Because this data is the basis for the movement plan and the aligners, we also check for cavities or gum inflammation before scanning.

  • See the movement plan before you start

You can follow along on a 3D screen as we explain how your teeth will move at each stage. Once you understand which teeth move how far and where attachments go, you can begin.

The basic principle of clear aligners is the same regardless of brand. So rather than asking "which brand is better", we suggest first asking "can my teeth be moved with clear aligners, and who makes the plan?"

Comparing appliances

Angel Aligner vs. Invisalign: what's different?

We've listed only confirmed facts. Items that are hard to compare with certainty are compared at your consultation, based on your own teeth.

Who it suits

When Angel Aligner fits, and when another option is better

These are general guidelines; the actual decision is based on your full exam. Even for the same gap between front teeth, the plan differs depending on whether the cause is tooth size, a tongue habit or the jawbone.

  • Good cases to consider

    • Gaps between front teeth, spaced teeth
    • Mild to moderately crowded teeth
    • Partial orthodontics for the front teeth only (possible with clear aligners)
    • Teeth that shifted slightly after previous orthodontics
    • People who can keep up the wear time on their own
  • Cases that need a full exam first

    • Protruding mouth that may require extractions
    • Deep bite, or a bite where the front teeth don't meet
    • Severely rotated or impacted teeth
  • Cases where we suggest another method first

    • When a large jawbone discrepancy means surgery should also be considered
    • When gum inflammation or cavities must be treated first
    • When daily wear is realistically difficult

Pros and trade-offs

The conveniences of clear aligners and what to know beforehand

  • What you can expect

    • They're clear, so they're hard to notice unless someone looks closely
    • You can take them out to eat
    • You can take them out and brush and floss as usual
    • No wires or brackets catching inside your mouth
  • What you need to accept

    • If you don't keep up the wear time, teeth won't move as planned
    • For a few days after switching aligners, you may feel tightness or pain
    • Sweet drinks with aligners in raise the risk of cavities
    • Depending on your teeth, clear aligners alone may not be enough

The generally recommended wear time is 20–22 hours a day. That means wearing them almost all day except when eating and brushing. If you're not confident you can manage this yourself, please tell us honestly at your consultation. In that case we'll also compare bonded, fixed braces for you.

Treatment process

The Angel Aligner process

Dr. Juhee Baek personally handles the consultation, placing the appliance and the final check. Every explanation is repeated at least four times, and you're welcome to make your decision at home.

  1. 01

    Consultation & full exam

A dentist consults with you for over an hour, and X-rays and photos are used to check bone, roots and bite.

  2. 02

    iTero scan

We scan with iTero, without impressions, to create 3D data of the teeth and gums.

  3. 03

    Reviewing the 3D plan

The doctor checks the manufacturer software's movement plan tooth by tooth, corrects it and finalizes it.

  4. 04

    Aligner production & first fitting

Attachments are bonded where needed, and we show you how to put in and take out the aligners.

  5. 05

    Changing aligners & regular visits

You change aligners at set intervals; if some teeth haven't moved enough, we finish with additional aligners.

  6. 06

    Retainers

Retainers are made so the moved teeth don't drift back, and the doctor personally checks the final result.

Timing varies, but full treatment usually takes 1 to 2.5 years, and partial treatment of the front teeth about 3–6 months. We'll tell you the exact duration and number of aligners after the full exam and 3D plan. Since orthodontics requires a visit for each adjustment, travel distance matters too. Blanche is between Nonhyeon and Sinnonhyeon stations, a 30-second walk from Exit 4 of Nonhyeon Station.

Wear and care

Angel Aligner wear time and care

With clear aligners, the time you wear them is what creates the result.

  • 01

    20–22 hours a day

This is the generally recommended wear time. Keep them in while you sleep and take them out only to eat and brush.

  • 02

    Out for anything but water

Drink only water with the aligners in. Sweet drinks pool inside them and increase the risk of cavities.

  • 03

    Brush after eating

Brush after meals before putting them back in. Rinse the aligners in lukewarm water and keep them clean.

  • 04

    Keep them in the case

Always put them in their case when you take them out, so they don't get lost or stepped on.

If an aligner lifts off the teeth, an attachment has come off, or an aligner is broken, contact us instead of waiting for your next visit. After treatment, wear your retainer as instructed so your teeth don't drift back.

Cost

Angel Aligner cost

Angel Aligner starts from KRW 1,000,000 (≈ USD 735), the same as Invisalign. The cost varies with scope, so we'll give you the exact amount after the full exam, because it depends on the number of aligners needed and the scope of treatment.

ItemCost
Angel Aligner clear alignersFrom KRW 1,000,000 (same cost as Invisalign)

Adjustment feeKRW 50,000 (≈ USD 35) per month (usually once a month; patients living abroad can come once every 6 months)
  • For reference, Invisalign at Blanche also starts from KRW 1,000,000 (varies by package and scope). The doctor decides which of the two you need after diagnosis and consultation, and we quote the cost for that appliance.
  • When comparing quotes, check whether the full exam, additional aligners and retainers are included.
  • Even with the same appliance name, the cost differs if the number of aligners needed differs. Rather than looking only at the price, we recommend first comparing whether the scope of treatment is the same.
  • USD amounts are approximate, based on 1 USD = 1,359 KRW.

Pain or discomfort while adjusting to the appliance, gum inflammation or cavities with insufficient care, root resorption (shortening of tooth roots), and relapse after treatment may occur.

Small gaps or black triangles that remain after treatment because of tooth size can also be finished with Blanche no-prep veneers; we're happy to discuss this option.

FAQ

Your questions about Angel Aligner

What kind of treatment is Angel Aligner?
Angel Aligner is a clear aligner system made by Angelalign Technology, headquartered in Shanghai, China. You switch to new clear aligners in sequence, and your teeth move a little at a time.
Which is better, Angel Aligner or Invisalign?
It's hard to say one is better for everyone. Both work on the same principle, and the right appliance depends on how much your teeth need to move and on the plan. Dr. Juhee Baek decides which one you need after diagnosis and consultation.
Do Angel Aligner and Invisalign work differently?
The basic principle is the same. You switch clear aligners made for each stage in a set order, and attachments are added when needed to help the movement.
How many hours a day do I need to wear them?
Generally 20–22 hours a day is recommended. Take them out only to eat and brush, and keep them in while you sleep.
Are attachments used too?
Yes, when needed to rotate teeth or change their direction. They're tooth-colored resin, so they're hard to notice, and they're removed when treatment ends.
Can I see the result in advance?
You can see the stage-by-stage movement plan in 3D from the scan data. However, the plan on screen doesn't promise the result, and actual movement varies from person to person.
Can Angel Aligner fix any tooth arrangement?
No. If there's a large jaw discrepancy or the movement is very complex, combining it with other appliances or choosing another method may be better. We start by checking what's possible with a full exam.
Does it hurt?
For a few days after switching to a new aligner, you may feel tightness or pain. It varies from person to person and often eases as you adjust.
Can I eat with the aligners in?
Take them out for anything but water. Eating or drinking sweet drinks with them in can damage the aligners and easily lead to cavities.
How long does treatment take?
It varies, but full treatment usually takes 1 to 2.5 years, and partial treatment of the front teeth about 3–6 months. We'll tell you the exact duration after the full exam and 3D plan.
How much does Angel Aligner cost?
Angel Aligner starts from KRW 1,000,000 (≈ USD 735), the same as Invisalign, and varies with the number of aligners and scope, so we'll give you the exact amount after the full exam. The diagnosis fee is KRW 200,000 (≈ USD 145; included in the total if you proceed), and the adjustment fee is KRW 50,000 (≈ USD 35) per month.
What if my teeth don't move fully as planned?
If some teeth haven't moved enough after the last stage, we may rescan and finish with additional aligners. Please check the terms for additional aligners at your consultation before starting.
What if I lose or break an aligner?
Contact us right away. Depending on your stage, we'll advise you to wear the previous aligner while you wait or have a new one made.
Do I need a retainer after treatment?
Yes. Teeth that have been moved tend to return to their original position, so a retainer is needed. We'll explain how and how long to wear it at the end of treatment.
Another clinic recommended Angel Aligner. Can I come just for a consultation?
Yes, a consultation alone is fine. You're welcome to decide at home, and comparing it with the other clinic's plan is a good idea.
Can growing children have it?
For growing children, jaw growth and the timing of permanent teeth also need to be considered, so we assess them separately. Please see our Orthodontics for Kids page.
Can I get a consultation if I live abroad or far away?
Send two photos, one of your face from the front and one smiling, via WhatsApp and we'll take a first look. Consultations are available in English, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Russian, and we'll also discuss your schedule for regular visits.
