Candidacy

Teeth that need no drilling, teeth that need slight reshaping

Even when no-prep isn’t possible, we don’t remove much. Those teeth get minimal-prep: reshaping of under 0.1 mm.

No-prep

Good candidates for no-prep

  • Small teeth or gaps between teeth (microdontia, black triangles)
  • Fairly even teeth that don’t stick out
  • You only want to change color or shape
Minimal-prep under 0.1 mm

When minimal-prep may be needed

  • Front teeth that protrude or are already large
  • Significantly overlapping or crooked teeth
  • Very dark discoloration that thin ceramic alone can’t cover
Treat first

When other treatment comes first

  • Gum inflammation → we treat the gums first
  • Severe teeth grinding → we check your bite and discuss a protective guard
Pros and cons

No-prep veneers: pros and cons

Know the limits as well as the benefits before you choose.

Pros

  • Your natural teeth are kept, with no drilling or reshaping of under 0.1 mm
  • No anesthesia and no temporary veneers
  • Low risk of sensitivity
  • You can often go back to your natural teeth after removal
  • With the one-day option, it’s done in a single day

Cons and limits

  • Teeth that protrude or are already large can look bulky without reshaping, so minimal-prep is needed
  • Very dark discoloration can be hard to cover with thin ceramic alone
  • Biting hard things with your front teeth can chip or detach a veneer
  • It is elective treatment not covered by Korean national health insurance

Veneer side effects

The less we remove, the less you worry about side effects

Removing a lot of tooth when it could be preserved can cause side effects such as sensitivity or gum inflammation. That’s why Blanche starts by reducing how much we remove.

FAQ

Veneers in Korea: Your Questions Answered

How are Blanche veneers different from conventional veneers?
The biggest difference is how much tooth is removed. Conventional veneers usually remove 0.5 mm or more, while Blanche removes nothing or reshapes less than 0.1 mm. And because we make each veneer in our own lab next to the clinic, fitted to your face and gums, same-day completion is also possible.
Won’t thin veneers break easily? How long do they last?
Blanche veneers are thin but made of high-strength ceramic, so they don’t break easily. With good care and regular check-ups they can last more than 10 years, and everyday eating is no problem.
Will my gums swell or smell after treatment?
If a veneer edge sits deep under the gum or doesn’t fit the tooth, gums can swell and smell. Blanche removes little tooth and fits the edges precisely above the gum line, so these problems are less likely. Gum condition and hygiene habits vary from person to person, so we recommend regular check-ups.
Can I replace veneers done at another clinic with Blanche veneers?
Yes. We remove existing veneers with a laser, so we can switch to Blanche veneers without drilling your teeth further. We quote the exact cost after a consultation, and we don’t charge separately for removing the existing veneers. You can find more on our veneer replacement page.
How do I care for my veneers?
Brush and floss as usual. Avoid chewing ice or very hard food, and come in for regular check-ups.
How long does treatment take?
With the one-day option, consultation to bonding takes 4–5 hours on the day (5–6 hours for many teeth). You’re free to step out while you wait. The standard timeline takes 1–2 weeks.
Is everyone a candidate for no-prep veneers?
It depends on the size, alignment and protrusion of your teeth. Teeth that can’t be done no-prep get minimal-prep, reshaping of under 0.1 mm, and we tell you first which applies, using photos and an exam at your consultation.
Won’t my teeth look thick if nothing is removed?
We use ceramic as thin as 0.1 mm and design to your face shape and gum line, so they can be made without looking thick. If your teeth already protrude, we adjust thickness with minimal-prep.
What’s the difference between no-prep and minimal-prep veneers?
No-prep removes nothing at all; minimal-prep lightly reshapes the surface by less than 0.1 mm. Both are done without anesthesia or temporary veneers, and both cost the same.
Can no-prep veneers be removed later?
Because the teeth weren’t drilled, you can often go back to your natural teeth after removal. Blanche removes veneers with a laser, leaving the tooth surface as it was.
Don’t no-prep veneers come off easily?
Undrilled outer tooth surface (enamel) bonds well. Blanche bonds the tooth and ceramic chemically. Please avoid biting hard things with your front teeth.
What are the downsides of no-prep veneers?
Teeth that protrude or are already large can look thick without reshaping, so minimal-prep of under 0.1 mm is needed. Very dark discoloration can be hard to cover with thin ceramic alone, and biting hard things with your front teeth can chip or detach a veneer. We tell you at your consultation whether any of this applies to you.
How much do veneers cost in Korea?
Per tooth: Blanche BASIC KRW 650,000, Blanche PLATINUM KRW 850,000 and Blanche Signature PLATINUM KRW 1,500,000. The one-day option adds KRW 200,000 per tooth (VAT excluded). Warranties are 1, 5 and 10 years respectively.
How many teeth should I do for a natural look?
It depends on how many teeth show when you smile and where your concerns are. We only do the teeth you need, and decide the number together from your smile photos at the consultation.
Veneers or braces: which is right for me?
Veneers suit you if you want to change the shape, color or size of your teeth; braces if the teeth themselves need to move. Blanche has an orthodontist on the team, so we can explain and compare both.
Will I have sensitivity or pain afterwards?
Because little is removed, the risk of sensitivity is low. Depending on your teeth, you may feel mild sensitivity for a few days; if it continues, we check it right away.
Can I get a consultation if I live abroad?
Yes. Send us photos of your face from the front and smiling, and a dentist will look at them first. Consultation is available in English, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Russian, and with the one-day option you can be treated even on a short stay.
