Why patients come to us

Thinking about redoing your veneers?

If any of these apply, first check whether you need replacement. That doesn’t mean everything has to be redone.

Also called veneer replacement or redoing veneers.

  • Your veneers look too white, or don’t match the teeth around them
  • Receding gums have exposed the edges of your veneers
  • A front edge has chipped, or a veneer has lifted or come off
  • Your gums often swell, or bad breath bothers you
  • Your teeth have looked thick and large from the start
  • Your veneers are old and you’re worried about the material
Scope of replacement

Redo everything, or fix just some?

A replacement consultation starts by deciding what to change, and how much.

Redo everything, or fix just some?
Current conditionWhat we consider
One or two chipped or detachedRemake just those teeth, or rebond them if they’re in good condition
Color looks unnatural overallRedesign and replace the visible teeth
Gum margins are exposedConsider tidying the gum line along with replacement
Recurring gum inflammation or odorReplace ill-fitting veneers and treat the gums
Unhappy with size or shapeRedesign to suit your facial proportions

We only change the teeth that need it. We won’t suggest replacing veneers that are fine.

Laser removal

What changes with laser removal?

Grinding off existing veneers with a drill can remove the tooth surface under the ceramic too. Blanche uses a laser to release the bonding layer under the veneer and lifts the veneer off in one piece.

  1. ① Laser applied

We shine the laser onto the veneer.

  2. ② Only the bond reacts

Light passes through the ceramic and releases only the bonding layer beneath.

  3. ③ Veneer lifts off

The veneer comes off in one piece, and the tooth surface stays as it was.

01

No further drilling

What remains after removal is your tooth as it was after the first treatment.

02

A sound base for the new veneer

The surface stays in good condition for bonding a new veneer.

03

Faster removal

With no cutting into pieces, there’s more room in the schedule on replacement day.

Blanche has done no-drill veneers from the start. We remove by laser to keep that principle in replacement too.

When laser removal is difficult

  • It’s a crown (covering the whole tooth), not a veneer
  • The material doesn’t let light through well, like zirconia, or it’s thick
  • There is decay or a crack under the veneer that needs treatment first

In these cases, we explain other removal methods and how they differ at your consultation.

Veneers from other clinics

Veneers Done Elsewhere, in Korea or Abroad, Can Be Replaced

Many of our replacement patients had their first veneers at another clinic. Wherever you had them done, we can replace them. Before removal, we check with photos and an exam how much tooth was removed the first time, and design the thickness and shape of your new veneers to match.

FAQ

Questions about veneer replacement

Will my teeth be drilled again for replacement?
Blanche removes existing veneers with a laser, so your teeth are not drilled further. New veneers are designed to fit the tooth that remains.
Can you replace veneers done at another clinic?
Yes. Whichever clinic did the first treatment, we examine the current condition before proceeding.
Can you replace veneers I got in another country?
Yes. We check your current veneers from photos first, then remove them by laser and remake them in one day if you’re visiting Korea.
Does laser removal hurt?
We use local anesthesia for laser removal. After the anesthesia wears off you may feel brief sensitivity or soreness, which usually settles with time.
Can replacement be done in one day too?
Yes. Our in-house lab makes your veneers the same day, so removal through bonding is finished in one day. If gum treatment is needed first, the schedule may be split.
How much does replacement cost?
It depends on your teeth, how many are replaced and the plan, so we quote the exact cost after a consultation. We don’t charge separately for laser removal of existing veneers; you pay only for the teeth replaced.
Can I replace just one broken tooth?
Yes. We make one new veneer matched to the color and shape of the rest. If the surrounding veneers are old and the color difference is large, replacing them together may look more natural, so we explain both options.
Can a veneer that came off be rebonded?
If the veneer isn’t broken and still fits the tooth, it can be rebonded. Please don’t throw it away; bring it with you.
Can I go back to my natural teeth after removing veneers?
It depends on how much tooth was removed the first time. If very little was removed, you may be able to live with your natural teeth after removal; if a lot was removed, new veneers are needed.
Can replacement fix visible gum margins?
When we replace the veneers, we set a new margin position and, if needed, consider tidying the gum line at the same time.
My gums are swollen and smell. Could it be my veneers?
If veneer edges don’t fit the tooth well, food and bacteria can build up and inflame the gums. We find the cause through an exam, then advise whether gum treatment, replacement or both are needed.
Is there a warranty after replacement?
Yes. Replacement carries the same plan warranty: Blanche BASIC 1 year, Blanche PLATINUM 5 years and Blanche Signature PLATINUM 10 years.
Will I need temporary veneers during replacement?
With the one-day option, new veneers are bonded the same day, so no temporaries are needed. If treatment is split, for example for gum treatment, temporaries are used until the new veneers are ready.
How many times can veneers be replaced?
Laser removal doesn’t drill your teeth further, so replacement won’t gradually wear your teeth down. Decay or cracks in the tooth itself need separate treatment.
Can sensitivity occur after replacement?
Depending on your teeth, there may be brief sensitivity, which usually settles with time. If discomfort continues, we check it right away.
When should old veneers be replaced?
Veneers don’t have to be replaced just because years have passed. It’s time to consider replacement if an edge has chipped, the color or translucency no longer matches nearby teeth, receding gums expose the margin, or gum inflammation keeps coming back. If they’re in good condition, regular check-ups are enough to keep using them.
I live abroad. Can I get a replacement consultation?
Yes. Send us photos of your face from the front and smiling, and a dentist will look at them first. Consultation is available in English, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Russian.
