A good veneer clinic
can explain its process
Once a tooth is reshaped, it can’t be undone. That’s why a clear explanation of how, how much and why matters more than a promise of “beautiful results.”
Every clinic’s after photos look good. But a photo won’t show how much tooth was removed, who made the veneers and how, or what happens if something goes wrong a few years later. This page brings together only the points you can check for yourself in a single consultation.
How much is removed?
Tooth reduction can’t be reversed. Check that the answer is a number, not just “a little.”
Who makes them, and where?
Color and shape are decided while the veneers are being made. Ask where and how they’re made, and when you’ll get to try them in.
What if something goes wrong?
Find out in advance how long the warranty lasts if a veneer chips or comes loose, and how it would be remade.
Before your consultation,
bring these along
A little preparation makes your consultation far more useful. Ask the same questions at each clinic and the differences in their explanations become easy to see.
Helpful to bring
- A few photos of your full smile from the front and from the side
- Photos of smiles you like (as a reference for size and brightness)
- A note on which teeth bother you most and why
- Past dental work, orthodontic history, and whether you grind your teeth
- When you’d like it finished and your schedule (events, your departure date, etc.)
What to come away with
- A number for how much tooth will be removed
- An explanation of why that number of teeth is needed
- Itemized costs and timeline, and whether VAT is included
- The warranty period and what happens if a problem comes up
- An answer on whether there are options other than veneers
Send us your photos on WhatsApp and Blanche will give you a free initial consultation. You’re welcome to hear the general direction before you visit.
8 things to check at your consultation,
and Blanche’s answers
Same question,
very different answers
A good answer includes numbers, steps and conditions. If you only hear reassuring words without specifics, ask again.
A good consultation tells you “this is difficult” up front. Notice whether they’re honest about what they can’t do and what they wouldn’t recommend.
Check what they look at
before any reshaping
Most of a veneer result is decided on diagnosis day, not on bonding day. Ask whether they go ahead after a quick look, or keep records and settle the design first.
Photo records
Photos of your whole face, your smile and your teeth from several angles let us set a size and length that suit your lip line and facial proportions. They also serve as the baseline for comparison afterward.
Impressions or scans
An accurate record of the shape and alignment of your teeth is what tells us whether veneers can be bonded without reshaping, or where and how much needs to be refined.
Bite and teeth grinding
If no one asks how your upper and lower teeth meet, or whether you grind your teeth at night, the forces on your teeth aren’t being considered. Veneers made without accounting for those forces are more likely to chip or come loose.
Gum health and gum line
Inflamed gums need treatment first, and if the gum line is uneven, changing only the teeth may not give a balanced result.
Previewing the final shape
Check that you’ll have a chance to try the shape and color and make changes before bonding.
- 01
Hearing your ideal smile
We start by talking about brightness, size and how natural you want it to look.
- 02
Setting the design
We set tooth length and width to suit your face and lip line.
- 03
Trying them in
We place them in your mouth and check together that the shape and color look natural.
- 04
Refining and bonding
We adjust what’s needed, bond them, and check how your bite meets.
Because Blanche’s veneers are made at Blanche Lab inside the clinic, a ceramist can refine them right after your try-in. Adjusting color or shape doesn’t mean waiting for them to be sent out and back.
Five reasons
veneers cause problems
When veneers chip, come off or look unnatural, there is usually a reason. Listen to how each clinic handles these five at your consultation.
Removing too much
The more of the hard outer enamel is removed, the weaker the bond and the more likely sensitivity becomes. A reshaped tooth never grows back.
Margins and bonding
If the edge where veneer meets tooth doesn’t fit, or the bonding is uneven, food can get trapped and the veneer can stain or lift.
Bite and force
Veneers made without looking at how your teeth meet, or at grinding and clenching, chip more easily at the edges. If needed, a protective guard should be discussed too.
Color and thickness design
Too white or too thick, and veneers look obvious. Brightness, translucency and thickness need to be matched to your neighboring teeth and your face for a natural look.
Aftercare
Without regular check-ups, small lifting or gum changes can go unnoticed. Find out when you’ll be checked after bonding and who to contact if something comes up.
Blanche’s principles
We only do no-prep or minimal-prep under 0.1 mm, using Swiss ceramic and the Ivoclar bonding system. For care after bonding, see Veneer lifespan and care.
The lab and the warranty:
two things consultations often miss
Communication with the lab and ceramist
The color and shape of a veneer are decided in the ceramist’s hands. How accurately and how quickly the dentist’s design reaches the ceramist affects the result.
- Where the veneers are made (in the clinic or outside)
- Machine-milled, or layered and fired by hand
- Whether the ceramist sees you in person when matching color
- How many days it takes if something needs fixing
Blanche’s answer — Ceramists trained in France and Switzerland make your veneers at Blanche Lab, inside the clinic. Depending on the plan, they’re made by CAD/CAM or handmade build-up fired at about 800℃.
Warranty and replacement
Veneers are a long-lasting treatment, but chipping or loosening can still happen. It’s best to hear how that would be handled before anything is bonded.
- How many years the warranty lasts, and whether it differs by plan
- What the warranty does and doesn’t cover
- Whether more tooth is removed when a veneer is remade
- Whether the warranty terms are explained in advance
Blanche’s answer — We publish our warranties: Blanche BASIC 1 year, Blanche PLATINUM 5 years, Blanche Signature PLATINUM 10 years. When a veneer is remade, we remove the old one with a laser, so no more tooth is removed. See veneer replacement
Don’t just compare per-tooth prices;
look at what’s included
Veneer prices depend on the material, how they’re made, who treats you and the warranty period. Compare a single number and you end up treating different terms as if they were the same.
What to check in a price
- Whether it’s a per-tooth price or a bundled price for several teeth
- Whether VAT is included or extra
- Whether diagnosis, try-ins and adjustments cost extra
- Extra costs for options such as same-day completion
- How the warranty period and dental team change with the price
Blanche’s published prices
| Plan | Per tooth | Warranty |
|---|---|---|
| Blanche BASIC | KRW 650,000 (≈ USD 480) | 1 year |
| Blanche PLATINUM | KRW 850,000 (≈ USD 625) | 5 years |
| Blanche Signature PLATINUM | KRW 1,500,000 (≈ USD 1,105) | 10 years |
The one-day option adds KRW 200,000 per tooth, and all prices exclude VAT. Blanche BASIC is made by CAD/CAM, Blanche PLATINUM by handmade build-up, and Blanche Signature PLATINUM is handled personally by Dr. Taehyung Kim. See prices in detail
In these cases, hold off
and ask again
Reduction is only described as “a little”
Ask for the amount in numbers. A reshaped tooth can’t be restored.
The number of teeth is decided before the consultation
Ask why that number is needed for your smile.
You’re pushed to decide the same day
Get itemized costs and a timeline, and take your time to think it over before you decide.
There’s no explanation of warranty or aftercare
Check what happens if a veneer chips or loosens, and how many years the warranty covers.
They want to start reshaping without a diagnosis
If reshaping starts on day one without photos, impressions or a bite check, ask when the shape and color will be decided.
No other options are mentioned
If your teeth are very crooked or protruding, orthodontics may need to come first. See whether they compare veneers with other options.
When you ask “Who’s the best?”,
here’s Blanche’s answer
No clinic can honestly rank itself against others in its own advertising, and it shouldn’t try. Instead, here are criteria you can check for yourself, wherever you go.
The clinic celebrities go to
Medical providers can’t disclose who their patients are, so there’s no way to confirm which celebrities go where. Blanche doesn’t disclose this either. The natural-looking front teeth people talk about don’t come from making everything as white as possible, but from matching size and translucency to the face.
The clinic with great reviews
Reviews rarely show how much tooth was removed or how the veneers were made, and everyone’s idea of satisfaction is different. Look for before-and-after photos of the same person taken under the same conditions, and for cases with concerns like yours. See real before-and-after cases
The best dentist
Ask who diagnoses, who designs and who bonds your veneers. How long and how deeply that dentist has worked with veneers can be checked through their published credentials.
Blanche’s Chief Director, Dr. Taehyung Kim, graduated from Seoul National University College of Dentistry and the SNU School of Dentistry with a Master of Dental Science, and trained at Columbia and UCLA dental hospitals in the US. He has held five minimal-prep veneer seminars in Korea and abroad, still teaches dentists today, and is a Clinical Instructor at Ginza Shirayuri Dental Clinic in Japan. At Blanche, a team of six dentists (averaging more than 15 years of experience) treats patients, working together with an orthodontic specialist.
