Zirconia Crown Korea: When You Need One, What It Costs, and How to Judge Quality

If you searched “zirconia crown Korea,” you may have a quote from home, or a broken tooth and a plane ticket. Either way, price is only part of the question.
The quieter worry is this: is a crown in Korea the same quality as at home? You will chew on it every day for years.
Below I explain when a crown is needed, when a veneer may be enough, what zirconia is, and what our fee includes.
A note from Dr. Kim
Trusting a dentist abroad with a tooth you use every day is a big step, so I want you to see my reasoning before the price.
“Why damage a tooth worth more than you can price? Blanche started from that question.”
When a crown is needed, and when it is not
A crown covers the whole visible part of a tooth, like a cap. A veneer covers only the front surface. That difference decides a lot.
Generally, a crown is considered when a tooth has lost a large part of its structure. For example, a big fracture or a very large filling may call for the full coverage of a crown.
However, a crown usually means shaping the tooth on all sides. So for a front tooth that is still mostly sound, I ask a different question first: could a veneer be enough?
Front tooth? A veneer may be enough

Many front teeth that look chipped, worn or discolored still have healthy structure underneath. Here, a veneer can change the look while keeping much more of the tooth.
Our veneers are fully no-prep or minimal-prep under 0.1 mm. Blanche no-prep veneers are bonded to the front surface, usually with no anesthesia and no temporaries.
That said, a veneer is not always the answer. Gum inflammation, cavities or heavy grinding are treated first, and a badly broken tooth may still need a crown. Our guide to veneers vs crowns for front teeth walks through the choice in more detail.
What zirconia is, in plain words
Zirconia is a tooth-colored ceramic known for its strength. It contains no metal, so there is no metal edge to show through at the gumline.
Think of choosing a phone case. Some look beautiful, others survive every drop, and the right one depends on how you use the phone. Zirconia leans toward strength, which is one reason it is widely used for crowns.
The material is only half the story, however. Fit, shape, and how the crown meets the teeth around it depend on the scan, the design and the lab.
Crown, veneer or implant? A quick guide

This table is a general starting point; your own answer comes from the exam.
| Situation | Crown, veneer or implant? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Front tooth chipped at the edge, otherwise sound | Often a veneer | Keeps more of your own tooth |
| Front tooth discolored or uneven in shape | Often a veneer | Very dark discoloration may need minimal prep |
| Large fracture or a very large filling | Often a crown | The exam shows how much tooth is left |
| Old crown you want replaced | Usually a new crown | We check the tooth underneath first |
| Tooth that cannot be kept, or a missing tooth | Implant | Our implant prices already include a zirconia crown |
| Tooth broken during a trip | Depends on the break | Send photos first; options are confirmed after the exam |
Zirconia crown Korea fee: what you pay at Blanche
On our published fee schedule, a zirconia crown is KRW 500,000. Pricing is the same for Korean and international patients, with no foreigner surcharge.
Our crowns are made in our in-house lab, Blanche Lab, where the ceramists trained in France and Switzerland. So your crown is made by our own team rather than sent out to another lab.
Don’t double-count with implants
If a tooth needs an implant, the crown is already in the price. Our implant fees include the abutment and zirconia crown: KRW 1,000,000 for Megagen AnyOne, KRW 1,500,000 for Megagen BlueDiamond, and KRW 2,300,000 for Straumann.
So when you compare quotes, check whether a crown has been added on top of an implant. Our dental implant cost guide lists what is included and what can be added.
How long it takes
The number of visits depends on the tooth and what it needs first. That is why we set the schedule after the exam, not before.
Do I really need a crown, or would something smaller work?
Send us just two photos: one of your face straight on, and one smiling. If you have a recent X-ray, add it, and we’ll tell you whether a veneer, crown or implant looks likely.
Is a zirconia crown in Korea the same quality as at home?

Quality doesn’t come from a country. It comes from the material, the design, the lab, and how carefully the crown is fitted. Those are things you can ask about anywhere.
- Which material will the crown be made of?
- Who makes it, and where is the lab?
- How is the tooth scanned or measured?
- Are the costs itemized, including any extra steps the tooth needs?
- Which records will I receive to show my dentist at home?
Ask the same questions at home and in Seoul. Then you compare systems, not flags.
Planning a visit
Blanche is a 30-second walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, about an hour from Incheon Airport. Consultations are available in five languages: English, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and Russian.
If a tooth breaks during a trip, avoid chewing on that side and keep any broken piece. Then send us photos.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a zirconia crown in Korea at Blanche?
On our published fee schedule, a zirconia crown is KRW 500,000, the same for Korean and international patients. If you need an implant, the zirconia crown is already included in the implant price.
Can a veneer replace a crown on a front tooth?
Sometimes. If the front tooth is still mostly sound, a veneer may be enough and keeps more of the tooth. A badly broken tooth may still need a crown, so the exam decides.
How long does a crown take at Blanche?
It depends on the tooth and what it needs first, so we set the schedule after the exam. Send photos and any recent X-ray first, and we can tell you what to expect.
Side effects and individual differences
Temporary sensitivity, a foreign-body feeling, or mild gum swelling can occur. Results and longevity vary with each person’s teeth and habits.
When I teach other dentists, I return to one idea: keep what can be kept. A zirconia crown in Korea is a good tool when a tooth truly needs it. When a smaller step will do, though, I would rather take it, so your smile still works twenty years from now.
