Is Dental Work Cheaper in Korea? Where the Saving Is Real, and Where It Disappears

Is Dental Work Cheaper in Korea? Where the Saving Is Real

Is dental work cheaper in Korea? For cosmetic work such as veneers, the honest answer is often yes, compared with what many patients are quoted in the US, the UK or Australia.

However, the question behind it is usually different: “Is cheap going to cost me more later?” Maybe you know someone whose bargain turned into a second trip, or a bill at home a year later.

So let’s talk about money honestly: where the saving is real, where it quietly disappears, and how to compare quotes line by line.

A note from Dr. Kim

I understand that worry, because nobody wants to pay twice for the same teeth, especially far from home.

“Why damage a tooth worth more than you can price? Blanche started from that question.” That is also why Blanche no-prep veneers keep your own enamel, the one thing no budget can buy back.

Is dental work cheaper in Korea? The short answer

For many cosmetic treatments, the price per tooth is often lower. That said, I will not quote other countries’ prices as hard numbers. Fees vary widely between cities and clinics, and figures online go stale fast.

Instead, ask your local dentist for a written, itemized quote. Then compare it line by line with a Korean quote. In other words, the useful version of “is dental work cheaper in Korea?” is “cheaper for the same work?”

Our published veneer fees

Per tooth, VAT excluded:

  • BASIC: KRW 650,000, with a 1-year warranty. Dentist-led, made by a Blanche Lab ceramist in Swiss ceramic with CAD/CAM.
  • PLATINUM: KRW 850,000, with a 5-year warranty. Chief dentist and senior ceramist, hand-layered Swiss ceramic.
  • Signature PLATINUM: KRW 1,500,000, with a 10-year warranty. I lead the case myself, and gum contouring and other supporting treatments are included.

The one-day option adds KRW 200,000 per tooth. No-prep and minimal-prep cost the same. For a fuller breakdown, see what veneers in Korea really cost per tooth.

Other published fees

Our fee schedule also lists a zirconia crown at KRW 500,000, and dental implants from KRW 800,000, including the abutment and zirconia crown. Straumann implants are KRW 2,300,000. Our Gangnam implant cost guide explains why implant prices differ.

Where the saving is real

Natural-looking smile

First, there is no foreigner surcharge. Korean and international patients pay the same price.

Second, fewer line items. Blanche veneers usually need no anesthesia and no temporaries, so you are not paying for steps you skip.

Finally, the warranty is part of the tier, not an add-on. If old veneers ever need redoing, we remove them with a laser, with no separate removal fee.

Where the saving disappears

Natural-looking smile

Think of a budget airline ticket. The base fare looks great, until you add bags, a seat, and the bus from a distant airport. Dental work abroad can work the same way.

Rushed over-preparation

Enamel does not grow back. If more is shaved than your case needs, a redo later starts from less tooth. So ask, in millimeters, how much will be removed.

Hidden extras

Scans, temporaries, anesthesia, removal of old veneers, or a different price for foreigners can all appear later. Ask for every item in writing before you book.

Follow-up costs after you fly home

If something needs attention at home, your local dentist will charge local fees. So ask what the warranty covers. At Blanche, if a veneer comes off, keep it and bring it; if it is not broken, re-bonding may be possible.

Trip costs

Flights, hotel and days off are real costs. However, they are fixed, so the more teeth involved, the smaller their share per tooth.

How to compare quotes line by line

Put both quotes side by side and check each row. If a line is missing, ask about it.

Cost itemWhat to askAt Blanche (published)
Price per toothIs tax included?KRW 650,000 / 850,000 / 1,500,000, VAT excluded
Number of teethWhich teeth, and why each one?Itemized in your written quote
ShavingHow many millimeters?None, or under 0.1 mm
Anesthesia and temporariesCharged separately?Usually not needed
Same-day treatmentIs there a surcharge?+ KRW 200,000 per tooth
WarrantyHow long, and what is covered?1, 5 or 10 years, by tier
Old veneer removalIs there a removal fee?No separate removal fee
Foreigner pricingSame price as locals?Yes, the same

In short, a lower number only counts as a saving when both quotes cover the same things.

“Would my case actually cost less in Seoul?”

Send us just two photos: one of your face straight on, and one smiling. We will tell you which teeth are likely involved and which options may suit you, so you can compare real numbers.

Is dental work cheaper in Korea once you add the trip?

Natural-looking smile

Often, but only you can do that math. Start with photos, not a flight. Our clinic is a 30-second walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, about an hour from Incheon Airport.

One-day treatment takes 4–5 hours on the day. Plan 2–3 days in Seoul for one follow-up check. Our guide to dental tourism in Korea covers the rest of the trip.

Frequently asked questions

Is dental work cheaper in Korea even after flights and a hotel?

Often, for cosmetic work, but it depends on your local quote and how many teeth are involved. Compare written, itemized quotes and add your trip costs before you decide.

Do foreigners pay more at Blanche?

No. Our pricing is the same for Korean and international patients, with no foreigner surcharge.

What happens if a veneer has a problem after I fly home?

If a veneer comes off, keep it and bring it; if it is not broken, re-bonding may be possible. Warranties run 1, 5 or 10 years by tier, and revision is priced the same as new treatment.

Side effects and individual differences

Temporary sensitivity, a foreign-body feeling, or mild gum swelling can occur. Results and longevity vary with each person’s teeth and habits.

When I teach other dentists, I remind them that the cheapest veneer is the one you never have to redo. Keeping enamel is what makes that possible. Our aim is simple: “A smile that still works twenty years from now.”

How your first consultation works

1. We listen to your concerns and the smile you want.

2. Based on your exam, we explain every available option.

3. We give itemized costs and timelines. You are welcome to decide later, at home.

We repeat every explanation at least four times, and no decision depends on one person’s judgment alone.
