Why do jagged front teeth show up in adults?
Front teeth often come in with three small bumps along the edge. Those bumps usually wear smooth with everyday biting.
However, if the upper and lower front teeth don’t meet well, the bumps can stay into adulthood. Small chips, uneven wear, grinding, or biting hard things can also roughen the edge line.
The same look can have different causes. So we first ask whether your edges were always like this or changed recently.
When it’s fine to leave jagged front teeth alone
If there is no pain or sensitivity and only the look bothers you, treatment may not be necessary. Whether to change it is your call.
That said, if you cover your mouth every time you laugh, that alone is reason enough to ask. In the situations below, an exam first is a good idea.

Light smoothing: when it is enough for jagged front teeth
If the bumps are small and the teeth have length to spare, gently smoothing the edges can even them out. It suits certain teeth well and is simple.
Smoothing does make the tooth slightly shorter, though, and enamel doesn’t grow back. If the teeth are already short or worn, adding may fit better than taking away.
Honestly, smoothing is a short visit a dentist near your home can do. It is not a reason to fly on its own.
