Tooth Extraction and Implant Korea: Same Visit or Later, and How Many Trips?

Tooth extraction and implant Korea is often one search, because the two steps feel like one problem. A tooth has to come out, and you want something solid in its place.
The question underneath is usually about time. “Can the implant go in the same day? And if not, how many extra flights does that add?”
The honest answer is that it depends on your bone and on whether there is infection. We decide after a 3D CT, not before. Here is what that decision looks like.
A note from Dr. Kim
I understand how unsettling it is to hear that a tooth must go, and then to wonder how many trips the fix will take.
“Why damage a tooth worth more than you can price? Blanche started from that question.”
First question: does the tooth really need to come out?
Before we talk about implants, we look at the tooth itself. If it can be kept, keeping it is usually worth the effort.
Every tooth extraction and implant Korea plan starts with the X-ray your dentist at home took, which we look at again. After that, the final decision comes from our own 3D CT and exam in Seoul.
No decision depends on one person’s judgment alone. If the tooth truly cannot be saved, we plan the extraction and the implant together.
Tooth extraction and implant Korea: same visit or later?

There are two main paths. Sometimes the implant is placed in the same visit as the extraction. Otherwise, the socket heals first and the implant goes in later.
Think of pulling out an old fence post. If the ground around the hole is firm, a new post can go straight in. If the soil is soft or wet, you fill the hole and let it settle first.
When the same visit may be possible
Generally, this needs enough firm bone around the socket to hold the implant steady, and no active infection at the site.
When the socket should heal first
If there is infection, or the bone walls around the root are thin or damaged, it is safer to let the area heal first. A bone graft may also be needed. Our article on whether you really need a bone graft explains how we decide.
We cannot promise same-day placement from photos or an X-ray. That decision is made after your 3D CT.
| Implant at extraction | Socket heals first | |
|---|---|---|
| Usually suits | Firm bone around the socket, no active infection | Infection, or thin or damaged bone walls |
| Bone graft | Only if the CT shows it is needed | Sometimes needed, per site |
| How it is decided | After your 3D CT and exam | After your 3D CT and exam |
| Trips | Fits into the usual four-visit plan | We lay out the sequence after the CT |
Front teeth and molars after extraction

Front teeth
For front teeth, a same-day temporary tooth is possible after implant surgery, so you do not fly home with a gap in your smile.
Molars
For back teeth, no temporary tooth is placed after surgery. If a wide area is missing, we provide a temporary removable denture to wear while the implants heal. It is billed separately. Our guide to molar implants explains the gap between trips.
Tooth extraction and implant Korea costs: what is itemized
Each implant fee includes the abutment, the zirconia crown made in our in-house lab, and the 3D CT. Extractions are not part of the implant fee. We itemize them after your exam.

Planning your trips around an extraction
When the implant goes in at extraction, the usual schedule applies. For international patients, that means four visits:
- Implant surgery
- Stitches out about one week later
- A digital scan 4–6 months later, after healing
- The crown fitted about one week after the scan
If you can stay about a week each time, that means only two trips. Our guide to why four visits usually mean two trips explains the timing.
When the socket needs to heal first, the extraction becomes its own step. We lay out the sequence and timing after your CT, so you know before you book.
We are a 30-second walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, about an hour from Incheon Airport. Dr. Kim Tae-hyung and Dr. Kim Ha-young perform implant surgery, and both speak English.
“Can my implant go in when the tooth comes out?”
Send us a recent X-ray if you have one, or just two photos: one of your face straight on, and one smiling. We will tell you which path looks likely and what we still need to check on the CT.
Caring for the area while it heals

Whichever path you take, the first days matter. Choose softer food, avoid chewing on the area, and follow the care instructions we give you before you leave.
Smoking, diabetes and gum disease can affect healing, so please tell us about them early.
After you fly home, your implant carries a 2-year warranty. If a problem comes up, we help you get follow-up care in your own country.

Frequently asked questions
Can tooth extraction and implant Korea treatment happen in one visit?
Sometimes, but we never promise it in advance. It depends on the bone around the socket and whether there is infection, and we decide after your 3D CT.
Is the extraction included in the implant price?
No. The implant fee includes the abutment, zirconia crown and 3D CT. Extractions are itemized separately after your exam.
Will I have a gap after the tooth comes out?
For front teeth, a same-day temporary tooth is possible. For molars, no temporary tooth is placed; if a wide area is missing, a temporary removable denture is provided and billed separately.
Side effects and individual differences
Swelling, bruising, mild pain, or temporary numbness can occur after implant surgery, and healing time varies. Results and longevity depend on each person’s bone, gums, health, and habits.
When I teach other dentists, I tell them the first job is to ask whether a tooth can stay. We keep your own teeth whenever we can, and when one must go, we plan its replacement for a smile that still works twenty years from now.
How your first consultation works
1. We listen to your concerns and what you want to be able to eat and smile with again.
2. Based on your 3D CT and exam, we explain every available option, including whether a bone graft is really needed.
3. We give itemized costs and a visit schedule. You are welcome to decide later, at home.
We repeat every explanation at least four times, and no decision depends on one person’s judgment alone.
