Emergency Dentist in Seoul for Tourists: What to Do When a Tooth Breaks on Holiday

Emergency Dentist in Seoul for Tourists

Finding an emergency dentist Seoul for tourists feels urgent when a tooth starts throbbing, or a veneer comes off over dinner.

Behind the search is a simple worry. I am far from home, I may not speak Korean, so who will actually see me?

Here is what matters, in order: what is truly urgent, what to do first, and how to reach us.

A note from Dr. Kim

I know how unsettling dental pain is far from your own dentist, so I will keep this practical.

“Minimal intervention, maximum beauty.” Even when something breaks, that line guides how we look at a natural tooth, a crown, or Blanche no-prep veneers.

First: is it a dental problem or a medical emergency?

Some symptoms belong in a hospital, not a dental chair. Go to a hospital emergency room, or call 119, Korea’s emergency number, if you have:

  • swelling that spreads toward your eye or down your neck;
  • a fever along with tooth pain or swelling;
  • trouble breathing or swallowing;
  • heavy bleeding that won’t stop.

These signs need hospital care first. Please don’t wait for a dental appointment or a reply from us.

Without those signs, a broken tooth, a lost crown or a toothache is a dental problem. You have a little time to plan.

What an emergency dentist Seoul for tourists usually sees

Tooth pain relief

Think of it like a flat tyre on a road trip. You don’t need to rebuild the car tonight; you need to get safely to a mechanic who can look properly.

Toothache

A toothache can have many causes, such as a cavity, a crack, or an infection near the root. Only an exam can tell which one it is.

Until then, rinse gently with warm water and keep food away from that side. If you take an over-the-counter painkiller, follow the package directions, and ask a pharmacist if you take other medicines.

A veneer that came off

If a veneer comes off, keep it and bring it. If it is not broken, re-bonding may be possible.

Wrap it in a tissue or a small box. Don’t try to stick it back with household glue. Our article on what holds veneers in place explains why bonding matters.

A crown that came off

Keep the crown as well, and chew on the other side. The tooth underneath may feel sensitive to cold air or drinks.

We check both before suggesting anything.

A chipped tooth or veneer

Keep any broken piece, rinse gently, and avoid hard food on that side. Our guide to what to do first with a chipped veneer covers the options.

How to reach an emergency dentist Seoul for tourists: our side

Blanche Dental Clinic lounge in Gangnam

To be honest, we cannot promise a same-day appointment or a walk-in slot. Instead, message us on WhatsApp with a photo, and we will reply with what we can do.

Take the photo close up, in good light. Tell us when it started, whether it hurts, and how long you are in Seoul.

Our team is four dentists with an average of 11 years of experience. Dr. Kim Tae-hyung and Dr. Kim Ha-young both speak English.

Opening hours

We are open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10:30 to 19:00, and Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30 to 21:00. On Saturday we open from 10:00 to 14:00.

We also open every other Sunday, so ask us which Sundays fall within your stay. Our guide to a dentist open on Sunday in Seoul explains what fits a weekend slot.

We are usually closed on Korean public holidays such as Seollal and Chuseok. If your trip overlaps one, ask us in advance.

Where we are

We are a 30-second walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, about an hour from Incheon Airport.

“Something broke and I’m only in Seoul for a few days. What now?”

Send us a photo of the problem on WhatsApp, or two photos if it’s easier: one close up, and one smiling. We will reply and tell you what we can do, and what can safely wait until you are home.

Cost, and what happens after you fly home

Gangnam, Seoul

Seeing an emergency dentist Seoul for tourists should not mean a different price. Korean and international patients pay the same. Before any treatment, we explain the options and give itemized costs, so you can decide calmly.

Sometimes the sensible plan is to settle the problem now and leave longer treatment for your own dentist at home. We will tell you plainly which applies.

If your veneers or implants were made here, their warranty applies. That is 1, 5 or 10 years for veneers, depending on the tier, and 2 years for implants.

It is also worth checking whether your travel insurance covers dental care, and keeping every receipt.

Frequently asked questions

Is Blanche an emergency dentist Seoul for tourists can contact?

Yes, you can message us on WhatsApp with a photo of the problem. We cannot promise a same-day appointment or a walk-in visit, but we will reply and tell you what we can do.

What should I do if my veneer comes off on holiday?

Keep it and bring it. If it is not broken, re-bonding may be possible. Store it in a small clean container and don’t glue it back yourself. Then send us a photo of the veneer and the tooth on WhatsApp.

When should I go to a hospital instead of a dentist?

Go to a hospital emergency room, or call 119, if swelling spreads toward your eye or neck, or if you have a fever. The same applies to trouble breathing or swallowing, or heavy bleeding that won’t stop.

Side effects and individual differences

Treatment outcomes and healing vary from person to person, depending on teeth, gums, health, and habits.

When I teach other dentists, I remind them that a patient in pain far from home needs a clear plan first. Settle the problem, keep as much of your own tooth as possible, and aim for a smile that still works twenty years from now.

How your first consultation works

1. We listen to your concerns and the smile you want.

2. Based on your exam, we explain every available option.

3. We give itemized costs and timelines. You are welcome to decide later, at home.

We repeat every explanation at least four times, and no decision depends on one person’s judgment alone.

Consultation — Message us on WhatsApp with a photo of the problem or two smile photos, or check our pricing. Same pricing for Korean and international patients.
