Straumann vs Korean Implants: Is the Swiss Brand Worth Almost 3x?

Straumann vs Korean Implants Price and Fit

Straumann vs Korean implants is one of the first comparisons people make when they open our fee list. A Megagen AnyOne implant is KRW 800,000, while a Straumann implant is KRW 2,300,000. That is almost three times the price for something hidden inside your jaw.

So the questions come fast. Is the Korean implant a budget compromise? Or is the Swiss one just a famous name?

Underneath, there is usually a quieter fear. You don’t want to fly home, hit a problem years later, and discover you picked the “wrong” brand. This post won’t crown a winner. Instead, it shows which questions really decide it.

A note from Dr. Kim

I understand how uneasy it feels to choose a brand for something you hope to keep for decades.

“No decision depends on one person’s judgment alone.”

What you actually pay: Straumann vs Korean implants in Seoul

All three fees on our list are per implant. Each includes the abutment, which is the connector piece, and a zirconia crown. In other words, you see the price of the whole tooth, not just the screw.

The same fees apply to Korean and international patients. A bone graft or sinus lift is extra, and we only add one if your 3D CT shows you need it. Our guide to bone grafts for implants in Korea explains those fees, and our Gangnam implant cost guide covers the rest.

Korea makes its own implants

Implant surgery at Blanche Dental Clinic

Korea is a major implant-manufacturing country, and Megagen is a Korean manufacturer. Straumann, by contrast, is Swiss. So the Straumann vs Korean implants question is not “real implant vs copy.” It is a choice between two established systems.

Think of it like choosing a car. A locally built car and an imported one can both take you safely to work for years. The difference often shows up later, when you need a part in a town where only one has a dealer.

That is why price alone tells you little. A lower fee does not mean a lesser implant, and a higher fee does not make one right for your mouth.

Megagen AnyOne and BlueDiamond

Both are Megagen lines, at KRW 800,000 and KRW 1,000,000. If we suggest one over the other, ask us why. We will show you the reason on your CT.

Why some people choose Straumann

Reviewing X-rays during consultation

For many international patients, the reason is practical: parts and follow-up abroad.

An implant is a small system of fixture, screw, abutment, and crown. If a screw loosens or a crown chips years from now, a dentist needs parts and tools for that exact system.

A widely distributed brand can be easier for a dentist in another country to service. However, we can’t tell you which brands a clinic near your home works with. So ask your home dentist before you decide.

In 2024, Blanche placed more Straumann implants than any other dental clinic in Gangnam. If Straumann fits your situation, it is a system our surgeons know well.

It often suits people who move between countries, expect treatment abroad later, or have a home dentist who already uses it.

Why Korean implants are a sound choice for many

On the other hand, many patients have no reason to pay almost three times more. If you plan to return to Seoul for maintenance, servicing abroad matters less.

The gap also grows with every tooth. Three Megagen AnyOne implants come to KRW 2,400,000; three Straumann implants come to KRW 6,900,000.

Meanwhile, the care around the implant stays the same: 3D CT, digital guided surgery, and sedation if you are anxious. Dr. Kim Tae-hyung and Dr. Kim Ha-young perform the surgery, and both speak English.

Above all, how long an implant lasts depends on your bone, gums, health, and daily care. Our guide to making an implant last 20 years explains the habits that matter.

Comparing Straumann vs Korean implants side by side

Full-arch implant models

Read this table as a list of questions, not a ranking.

BrandPrice per implant (abutment + zirconia crown included)What to askWho it may suit
Megagen AnyOne (Korea)KRW 800,000“Does this line suit the bone on my CT?”People planning follow-up in Seoul, or replacing several teeth
Megagen BlueDiamond (Korea)KRW 1,000,000“Why BlueDiamond instead of AnyOne for me?”People who want a Korean system and whose surgeon suggests this line
Straumann (Switzerland)KRW 2,300,000“Can a dentist near my home service this system?”People expecting treatment abroad later, or whose home dentist uses it

Notice that no row says “stronger.” That is deliberate. Your CT and your life decide the row.

“Which implant would you suggest for my case?”

Send us a recent X-ray if you have one, or just two photos: one of your face straight on, and one smiling. We’ll tell you which options look realistic so far and what each would cost, before you book a flight.

Planning your trips

We usually need four visits: surgery, stitches out a week later, a digital scan after 4–6 months of healing, and the crown a week after that. If you can stay about a week each time, that means only two trips to Korea.

We are a 30-second walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, about an hour from Incheon Airport. The final plan needs our own 3D CT in Seoul.

Frequently asked questions

Straumann vs Korean implants: which one should I choose?

We don’t rank them. Your 3D CT, how many teeth you are replacing, your budget, and where you will get follow-up care decide it. You are welcome to decide later, at home.

Do the implant prices include the crown?

Yes. Megagen AnyOne (KRW 800,000), BlueDiamond (KRW 1,000,000) and Straumann (KRW 2,300,000) each include the abutment and a zirconia crown. A bone graft or sinus lift is added only if your CT shows you need one.

What happens if something goes wrong after I fly home?

Our implant warranty is 2 years. If a problem comes up after you return home, we help you get follow-up care in your own country.

Side effects and individual differences

Swelling, bruising, mild pain, or temporary numbness can occur after implant surgery, and healing time varies. Results and longevity depend on each person’s bone, gums, health, and habits.

When I teach other dentists, I remind them that the brand is only one part of an implant. Whatever you choose in the Straumann vs Korean implants debate, I want that tooth to work for you twenty years from now. And if one of your own teeth can still be saved, we will tell you that first.

How your first consultation works

1. We listen to your concerns and what you want to be able to eat and smile with again.

2. Based on your 3D CT and exam, we explain every available option, including whether a bone graft is really needed.

3. We give itemized costs and a visit schedule. You are welcome to decide later, at home.

We repeat every explanation at least four times, and no decision depends on one person’s judgment alone.
