Dental Implant Revision Korea: Fixing an Implant Placed Elsewhere

Dental Implant Revision Korea Fixing a Failing Implant

Dental implant revision Korea is what many people search when an implant placed somewhere else starts to feel wrong. Maybe it moves when you chew. Maybe the gum around it is sore, or it bleeds when you brush.

Perhaps the original clinic is in another country, and you don’t know which brand was used.

So a quiet worry follows: can anyone even work on an implant they didn’t place? Here is what we check, and what to do first.

A note from Dr. Kim

I know how unsettling it is when something you paid for and trusted starts to fail, and I want you to understand your options before you decide anything.

“No decision depends on one person’s judgment alone.”

Dental implant revision Korea: can anyone work on an implant they didn’t place?

Yes, in most situations. An implant is not a sealed mystery box. Each system has its own shape and connection.

At Blanche, we identify the existing implant system from your X-rays and the implant’s shape. That tells us which parts and tools fit, or whether the implant needs to come out.

Think of a car taken to a new garage. The mechanic didn’t build it, but can read the model and find the right parts. A good garage also tells you when a repair isn’t worth it.

No records from the first clinic? That is common after treatment abroad. The X-ray and the implant’s shape then become our main source of information.

Signs your implant may need attention

None of these signs proves an implant is failing. However, each one deserves a dental check.

  • Looseness: the crown or implant moves when you chew.
  • Pain: aching around the implant, especially when you bite.
  • Swelling: puffy or tender gum around it.
  • Bleeding: the gum around the implant bleeds when you brush or floss.

When to see a local dentist first

If you have pain or swelling, please don’t wait for a flight to Seoul. See a local dentist as soon as you can. Inflammation and infection need prompt attention, wherever you live.

Ask for a copy of any X-rays they take. For dental implant revision Korea planning, those images help us give a first opinion from a distance.

What a loose or painful implant can mean

The same symptom can have different causes. Here is how we think it through.

How dental implant revision Korea treatment works at Blanche

Step 1: identify the existing system

We start with the X-rays you send, then take our own 3D CT in Seoul. Together they show the implant’s shape, its position, and the bone around it.

Step 2: decide what can be kept

Sometimes only the crown or a connecting part needs changing. In other cases, the implant has to come out. We explain which applies to you, and why, before anything starts.

Step 3: removal and a new implant, often in one visit

When your bone and gums are suitable, we can remove the old implant and place a new one in the same visit. That can save you a separate trip.

If the area needs to heal first, or bone needs rebuilding, we tell you plainly. Our guide to bone grafts for dental implants explains when that is really needed.

When needed, we use a digital guide, so the new implant follows a plan made on your CT.

Your warranty starts fresh after a revision

Implant surgery at Blanche Dental Clinic

If we remove an implant placed at another clinic and place a new one, your warranty starts fresh from that day.

It lasts 2 years, is the same for all three brands we use, and covers the crown.

Moreover, if a problem comes up after you return home, we help you get follow-up care in your own country. Our dental implant warranty guide explains how that works.

Can you tell which implant I have from my X-ray?

Send us a recent X-ray if you have one, or just two photos: one of your face straight on, and one smiling. We will tell you whether the implant looks identifiable and what a visit to Seoul would involve.

Planning a revision trip to Seoul

Send your X-rays on WhatsApp first, so we can give a first opinion before you book anything.

A new implant usually means four visits: surgery, stitches out a week later, a digital scan 4–6 months later, and the crown a week after that. Staying about a week each time means two trips. Our guide to how many trips implants take explains the timing.

Blanche is a 30-second walk from Nonhyeon Station Exit 4 in Gangnam, about an hour from Incheon Airport. Dr. Kim Tae-hyung and Dr. Kim Ha-young perform implant surgery, and both speak English.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get dental implant revision Korea treatment for an implant placed abroad?

Usually, yes. We identify the existing implant system from your X-rays and the implant’s shape, then confirm the plan with our own 3D CT in Seoul.

Can the old implant be removed and a new one placed in the same visit?

When your bone and gums are suitable, yes. If the area needs to heal first, we explain that before you book flights.

Does the warranty restart if you replace another clinic’s implant?

Yes. If we remove an implant placed at another clinic and place a new one, a 2-year warranty starts fresh from that day.

Side effects and individual differences

Swelling, bruising, mild pain, or temporary numbness can occur after implant surgery, and healing time varies. Results and longevity depend on each person’s bone, gums, health, and habits.

When I teach other dentists, I tell them revision starts with understanding what is already there. If a smaller fix can save your implant, we will tell you. If not, my aim is a smile that still works twenty years from now.

How your first consultation works

1. We listen to your concerns and what you want to be able to eat and smile with again.

2. Based on your 3D CT and exam, we explain every available option, including whether a bone graft is really needed.

3. We give itemized costs and a visit schedule. You are welcome to decide later, at home.

We repeat every explanation at least four times, and no decision depends on one person’s judgment alone.
