People who have to smile every day are the ones who brought me here.
From a small dental clinic in Magok to Gangnam. The ‘undetectable naturalness’ I learned from my flight attendant patients is still the standard by which Blanche creates every smile.
The child with a pencil in hand
As a child, I always had a pencil in my hand.
Drawing was my hobby, and to me a dentist — someone who shapes people’s teeth to be beautiful and healthy in a clean, calm space — seemed like a profession that somehow resembled drawing.
After entering the Seoul National University School of Dentistry, I found myself especially drawn to aesthetic dentistry, the art of creating a beautiful smile line. The tenacity and discipline I built on the SNU rowing team later became the foundation of a treatment philosophy that refuses to compromise on even a 0.1 mm error.
In graduate school I published a research thesis on the effects of professional tooth whitening and light activation, deepening my academic understanding of tooth shade, translucency and the mechanics of a white smile. That was the moment I decided to become a specialist in this field.

I opened my first clinic in Magok, Gangseo-gu — on the third floor of a large corporation’s headquarters in a newly built district. To be honest, the location wasn’t great.
Then something unexpected happened. Although Magok already had many large, well-established dental clinics, flight attendants began coming to our clinic in particular.
Why would they pass by the big clinics and choose a small one that had only just opened?
There was only one answer. Flight attendants, who must always show a healthy, beautiful smile in the cabin and under bright lights, were exceptionally satisfied with their treatment. I believe it was because I, too, had spent years thinking deeply about the ‘undetectable, natural smile’ they were looking for.
“It looks so natural, no one can tell whether I’ve had veneers or not.”
“I used to worry that my temporary teeth would fall off the night before a flight. Having everything done perfectly in one day truly moved me.”
Flight attendant, foreign airline, 6th year“Even in front of cameras and bright lights, nothing looks artificial — they look just like my own teeth.”
Flight attendant, Korean airline“A colleague recommended this clinic, and the care taken over every detail of my smile line showed genuine sincerity.”

The most demanding patients build real skill
Like drawing a picture, I wrestled with every single line and every proportion.
Tooth position and angle, proportion and shape, shade and translucency, gum-line exposure and balance, and the entire function of chewing.
Undetectable naturalness is only achieved when all of these elements come together perfectly.
Using high-magnification surgical loupes to catch errors as small as 0.1 mm, we rigorously verify every plan in advance through precise 3D CT diagnosis and dedicated team conferences.
The exacting standards of flight attendants — for whom even the slightest flaw shows — shaped the uncompromising skill that defines Blanche today.

“I wish I could get it all done
in a single day”

Flight attendants, flying almost every day, simply had no time for treatment.
Aesthetic treatment completed in one day, with no temporary teeth — I began researching how to make that possible.
Designing in 3D myself and shaping restorations on a milling machine, I spent night after night researching. The result was ‘Blanche’, a no-prep or minimal-prep laminate veneer.
And that is how our One-Day System, which finishes everything in a single day, came to be.
It wasn’t the patients who needed to move. It was me.
“A patient was driving from Pangyo for three hours, got stuck in traffic, and finally gave up and went home.”
That one story, passed on by a staff member, moved me. I felt that patients travelling long distances should never again have to struggle just to reach us.
So in 2023, Blanche Dental expanded and relocated to Gangnam, easy to reach from anywhere in Korea.
In Gangnam, too — just as we did in Magok

In-house Lab
Blanche LAB — our in-house digital dental laboratory
We have completely eliminated the days of waiting and the margin of error that come with sending restorations to an outside lab. Our dedicated on-site technicians design with ultra-precise 3D CAD/CAM, completing same-day fitting and custom shade matching.
Our 165㎡ clinic became 660㎡, and our team grew to more than 40 people.
But one thing has not changed: a treatment philosophy that focuses on one person’s smile — just as, in Magok, each satisfied flight attendant brought us the next patient.
With our own lab, Blanche LAB, the ‘one day’ our patients asked for has now become the Blanche standard.

Judging smiles on stage
"With the same standard I used to refine flight attendants’ smiles, I now judge smiles."
I once refined flight attendants’ smiles in Magok; now I judge smiles at beauty pageants.
Does the smile look natural? Is the smile line properly formed? Is the tooth shade harmonious? Are the teeth well aligned?
The criteria I use as a judge are exactly the ones I looked at every day in Magok — because even on stage, ‘undetectable naturalness’ is the true standard of beauty.

How one small smile can change a life — Misoryeok
A book by dentist Kim Tae-hyung Misoryeok: The Power of a Smile to Change Your Life
"A smile is not just an arrangement of teeth. It is the most powerful language for awakening confidence in life."
After years of creating smiles for flight attendants and countless other patients, I became certain of one thing.
A well-made smile does more than improve appearance — it completely transforms a person’s confidence and the way they face the world.
I put the aesthetic philosophy I have built since my SNU dental school days, my experience as a Miss Korea judge, and the secrets of the smile I discovered in clinical practice into one book: Misoryeok.
From the principles of a natural smile line to the harmony of teeth, gums and bite, and the moments when a smile creates opportunities in life, it is written for everyone to understand.

Our address changed, our space grew fourfold, and our team grew tenfold. But what I do has stayed the same: helping people who have to smile every day feel at ease when they smile.
